The flat steel imports by Brazil during the entire year 2015 recorded significant downtrend. According to latest data released by Brazil’s Foreign Trade Ministry, the country’s flat steel imports dropped sharply by nearly 30% when compared with the year before. The value of flat steel imports during the year were valued at $473.62 million FOB.
Brazil’s flat steel imports during 2015 totaled 800,205 tons, down by 29.6% when compared with the imports during the previous year. The country’s flat steel imports had totaled 1.14 million tons during 2014.
The country’s hot rolled coil (HRC) imports during 2015 totaled 208,095 mt, rising significantly by 13.7% year-on-year. The HRC imports by Brazil had totaled 183,001 mt during 2014. The value of HRC imports totaled $107.61 million FOB during 2015.
Brazil imported 315,964 mt of cold rolled coils (CRC) during 2015, down considerably by 35% when matched with the imports of 486,650 mt during the previous year. The value of CRC imports totaled $180.36 million during the year.
The hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) steel imports by Brazil dropped considerably by 40.8% to 276,146 mt, falling from 466,937 mt a year before. The value of HDG imports totaled $185.65 million FOB.
The country’s flat steel imports during the month of Dec ’15 alone totaled 20,564 mt. Out of this, 4,373 mt were HRC, 6,523 mt were CRC and the remaining 9,668 mt were HDG. The total value of imports during the month amounted to $10.96 million FOB. The value of HRC imports totaled $1.93 million FOB during the month. The value of CRC imports totaled $5.94 million during Dec ’15. Meanwhile, HDG imports during the month were valued at $5.94 million FOB.
